U15 CAMOGIE FEILE WIN

What a fantastic weekend for Na Dubh Ghall U15 girls who won their Camogie Feile final, in the GAA Centre of Excellence on Sunday afternoon.

The girls were up against a very dogged Naomh Mearnog team who were quicker out of the blocks. They had our back line under severe pressure in the opening 5mins, with Sarah pulling off a great save to keep our goal intact.

Our girls started to get into their rhythm after that with some great link up play between the players, moving the sliothar up the pitch. However, we couldn’t make that good approach play tell on scoreboard.
That was until just before halftime, when we got a free 55m out, which Annaleigh struck straight into the back of the net, sending us in at the break 1-0 to 0-0 ahead.

The 2nd half was more of the same nip and tuck for the opening minutes, before we started to regain control and kept the pressure on the Mearnog defense.
2 more placed ball were converted in to points, as the girls managed the game well to close out time.
At the full time whistle, there were rapturous scenes from all players and supporters.

A phenomenal achievement by this group of players as they keep achieving so much in such little time.
There were more wonderful scenes at the presentation with our Feile captain Olwenn receiving the trophy, along with Annaleigh earning player of the match award.

Celebrations continued back in the Racecourse Inn with light refreshments for the girls along with medal presentations.
A massive thank you to all who supported the girls over the weekend, NDG’s first ever Camogie Feile – it was certainly a memorable one…….
Future is definitely bright.

Also, a big thank you to Kathy’s Colour & Cuts, Higgins Butchers and O’Meara Camping for their sponsorship of the team, which is very much appreciated.
