JUNIOR FOOTBALL RETURNS TO NDG

Sunday 24th March saw another huge milestone for Na Dubh Ghall, when we fielded a Mens team in Junior football for the first time in almost 20 years.

While the game ended in a one point defeat to a youthful Ballymun Kickhams team (0-13 to 1-9), it didn’t diminish the significance of the day. With fantastic home support, there was a great buzz in the Park and the match lived up to the occasion. It was a great battle, with the lead constantly changing hands, and went right down to the wire.

A one point defeat was tough to take after such a great effort, but the team should be very proud of how far they have come since our Chairman, Mark Gibney, came up with the idea of a social football team in 2021. 15 of our squad yesterday were playing their first ever competitive adult match, most of whom only started playing Gaelic football in the last 12-24 months.

To add to the occasion, it was also wonderful that we could field three players who had come up through the club from their days together in the Nursery. Well done to Ben, Dylan and Adam, and we hope there will be more former NDG underage players who will line out for the club once again over the coming months.

Well done to all involved and we have our usual match report below too.
